Legacy
Built on core Gandhian values, the Bajaj Group has a legacy to be truly proud of. Shri Jamnalal Bajaj participated in the Freedom Movement, shunned the caste system, and immersed himself in the betterment of the downtrodden. His wife Smt. Jankidevi Bajaj, sons Shri Kamalnayan Bajaj and Shri Ramkrishna Bajaj, carried the vision forward.
Padma Vibhushan Smt. Jankidevi Bajaj played a major role in the upliftment of women, committed herself to the cause of Go-seva, did Padyatras (tours through walks for a social cause) with Acharya Vinoba Bhave for bhoodan (donation of land for the landless), koopdan (donation of wells from house to house) and was also actively involved in Gram Seva and Go-seva movements post-independence.
Shri Kamalnayan Bajaj fought against social discrimination and fulfilled Gandhiji’s constructive programmes whilst contributing substantially to education, medical care, and famine and flood relief whilst Shri Ramkrishna Bajaj, worked towards promoting ethical business practices aligned with the greater societal good and educational facilities for school children.
The legacy of Shri Jamnalal Bajaj’s ethics and commitment towards fair business practices and social responsibility has been taken forward by his grandsons Shri Rahul Bajaj, Shri Shekhar Bajaj, Shri Madhur Bajaj and Shri Niraj Bajaj and their family members.
Bajajwadi in Wardha, Maharashtra is a proud part of the Bajaj legacy. Gandhiji resided here at Shri Jamnalal Bajaj’s insistence, and frequent meetings involved freedom fighters, activists and political leaders. The first draft of the Resolution of Quit India Movement was drafted here.
Gandhi Chowk, Wardha is another historical landmark. Political addresses by Gandhiji, Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Maulana Shaukat Ali, Acharya Vinobha Bhave, Sane Guruji Maharaj were carried out here. The Swadeshi Movement started here with the burning of foreign clothes. It was here that the foundation stone of the Bajaj’s Business Group was laid.
The Laxmi Narayan Devasthan Trust broke all barriers of caste system when Gandhiji led a group of Dalits in.
The unique Gitai Mandir, Wardha is solely dedicated to spread the eternal message of the Gita for spiritual enlightenment.
The Fuji Guruji Memorial Trust propagates the teachings of Lord Buddha and Gandhiji.
The Vishwa Shanti Stupa, Wardha is a landmark of world peace established in honor of the Mahatma Gandhi and Shri Jamnalal Bajaj and houses a Buddha Temple.
The Bajaj Group supports The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKON) at the New Vedic Cultural Centre, Pune.
