“CSR for us, specifically, stands for Creating Skilled Resources” – Quoted by Mr. Rajiv Bajaj, MD Bajaj Auto Ltd. (on 22nd March 2024, During Bajaj Beyond launch)
At Bajaj Auto Ltd., our commitment to society is way beyond our business. As a true corporate citizen, our actions in community development have been empowering generations. Our CSR initiatives are designed leveraging our know-how to positively impact people and the planet. We are deeply committed to improving the livelihoods of the youth of our country by skilling and empowering them. We envision bringing Indian youth to the forefront of industrial transformation through BAL CSR Skilling Initiatives. Our flagship CSR initiatives are; Bajaj Engineering Skills Training (BEST) and Bajaj Manufacturing Systems (BMS).
About our flagship initiatives
Bajaj Engineering Skills Training (BEST) is the flagship CSR initiative of Bajaj Auto Ltd that provides best-in-class manufacturing skills training to young engineers. It is implemented in partnership with India’s top universities and engineering colleges by setting up state-of-the-art laboratories, with world-class equipment procured from across the globe. The centres provide skill training in contemporary and evolving technologies to engineering graduates (with both degrees and diplomas), helping them become competent and employable, thus bridging the industry-academia skill gap. BEST aims to support young learners from the economically weaker sections of society, those hailing from tier 2, tier 3 and tier 4 colleges/cities, and disadvantaged areas to enhance their employment opportunities.
Bajaj Auto has set-up state of the art training facilities in collaboration with esteemed universities and engineering collages across the country, of these 4 centres are already operational and 4 more centres are yet to be launched. We have committed approximately INR 350 crore over the next 3 years for this initiative, allocating close to INR 20 crore for each BEST centre. The second phase of BEST Program will have new verticals such as Electronics Manufacturing Systems (EMS), Firmware Development (FD), Systems Validation (SV) and E-Mobility (EM).
Bajaj Manufacturing Systems (BMS) is a key initiative under the skilling initiatives of Bajaj Auto. It is an e-learning, self-paced course based that aims to impart industry knowledge to ITI and polytechnic students using Bajaj Auto’s experience in operational excellence. The delivery of the program is done through a learning management system (LMS): using a mobile application and web page. The target of this project is to impact over 3 lakh youth per annum with a pan India presence. The BMS pilot covered 9 modules based on the principles of Total Productive maintenance (TPM). It was implemented in 3 districts in 3 states (Maharashtra, Uttarakhand & Karnataka) and 4000+ ITI trainees were certified. The BMS model is now being explored to include soft skills and internship opportunities for ITI trainees.
Our dedication lies in enhancing the well- being of individuals, with a particular focus on marginalized communities residing in proximity to our manufacturing plants. We also contribute to education, health, environment, animal welfare projects, and other relevant areas for the sustainable development of the community and the nation. Through our CSR arm, Janki Devi Bajaj Gram Vikas Sanstha (JBGVS), we implement and fund many projects that aims to uplift people from communities on the margins.
Our various programs include YOJAK, through which we provide educational support to students coming from underprivileged areas, who are aspiring to join STEM fields; Rupa Rahul Bajaj Scholarship Scheme which started in 2023 to award deserving students scholarships for pursuing STEM higher education; Lighthouse is a sustainable livelihood program for the urban disadvantaged youth, it helps awaken youth’s inner ‘Agency’ in addition to building of workforce competencies, offer various placement opportunities to youth, also support them to find jobs on their own via mentorship support.
We also believe in uplifting women through skills and provide them space and opportunities to transform themselves into empowered entrepreneurs so they can sustain themselves and their families through programs like Samaj Seva Kendra in Pune.
Through PRANA we support research in homeopathy and create a platform for holistic healthcare options through Integrative Wellness Program (IWP).
